Square On

How do you handle guilt? You know that voice that accuses; that voice that sounds like your very own voice belittling you and shaming you and pointing out again and again that you have failed. Like when you are late getting to the War Room. Even there you hear: I should have been here sooner.  And then you stop. That’s not DADDY GOD’s voice.

And then you say, That’s absolutely true. It would have been better if I had been here earlier; but, I am here now!
And that means neither my flesh nor my enemy kept me away. I made it!

That my Friends is progress. For sure. For sure. More victories are on the way when we learn to look the accuser’s charge square on; admit it, if it is true, and then turn from it toward the Father and keep on walking.

Revelation 12:10  (NIV) 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.  source

1 John 1:9  (TLV) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. source

Home Keeping

Perhaps I have misunderstood and if so please forgive, but it seems right to share one of my prayers with you today.

Abba. Thank You for this huge privilege of cleaning; floors, toilets, the whole of it. Thank You that You elevate these housekeeping tasks to blessings for our families, even for You; for You because You gave us these homes and it is to Your glory that we care for them in appreciation and thanksgiving for Your abundant grace in providing them. I pray to be balanced in this caring, perfection is desirable but not practical and I know well perfection quickly becomes an idol so that we resist. We aim for clean, healthy, comfortable, modesty in decor and a welcoming atmosphere for us who live here and those that You in Your grace allow to visit in our homes. And, Abba, make us hospitable people. Huh, Abba, if I spelled that right being welcoming and operating in hospitality is a form of the word hospital. Wow, make our homes places where those, even our own can come and find healing for what ails them. Oh, Abba, that is huge. Thank You so much. Amen and amen in Jesus welcoming and holy name.

Honest Thomas

Can you imagine? Perhaps like me you do not have to imagine.

John 14 TLV: If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to Myself, so that where I am you may also be. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Master, we don’t know where You are going. How can we know the way?” Yeshua said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life! No one comes to the Father except through Me.  source

Verse 3. Yeshua (Jesus) promised the Disciples (them and us) that He was going to prepare a place for them and that He would return for them to take them to the place He would prepare.  And in verse 4 He states you know the way to where I am going. I would think it might be a question rather than a statement were it not for Thomas.

Honest Thomas!

I wonder if Yeshua gave just a hint of a grin. A grin to reassure Honest Thomas that his question was acceptable. Acceptable because it was an honest inquiry even though it just might have come across like this (allow me to paraphrase):

Uh. Rabbi. Uh. Sir. I don’t mean to disagree with You, Sir. But, no, Sir, we do not know the way. I don’t recall You mentioning this before. So what do You mean we know the way?

Honest questions.

Verse 6. Do you read a rebuke? Nope. Me either. I see a kind, patient, loving explanation; even though they should have learned already; He instructs them again.

Sad to say it is fallen human nature to argue and question GOD.  It just is. Unregenerate man just thinks he or she knows more and better than GOD.  What can I say? It’s true. We argue with Him. We dispute Him. We question Him.

And you know what? He knows when that questioning is honest and when it is arrogant.  The honest ones often get His loving, patient explanation.  And if the explanation is not forthcoming, that means we have been given something even better: an opportunity to trust.

Honest Thomas. I love the man!
