Forego the Distance

Matthew 24:12 and many people’s love will grow cold because of increased distance from Torah.

via Matthew 24:12 KJV;CJB – And because iniquity shall abound, the – Bible Gateway.

This verse is holding my attention today. For a deeper understanding we have to become acquainted with the broad meaning of Torah. Yes, it is the first five books of the Old Testament but Torah is more.

Look I am borrowing from Hebrew4Christians.com which tells us this:

The word Torah (תּוֹרָה) comes from the root word yarah meaning \”to shoot an arrow\” or \”to hit the mark.\” Properly used, the word means \”teaching\” or \”instruction.\” Teaching is associated with the Holy Spirit, just as God taught Moses what to do and say (Exod. 4:15). And it is clear that Yeshua our Messiah assumed the title of Rabbi and performed much of his ministry as a Teacher (John 1:38).  via The Written Torah – Torah Shebikhtav.

When you read the word Torah in the CBJ or Law in Gentile translations of Scripture think teaching or instruction; think the WHOLE COUNSEL of GOD – all that HE has said to us in the Scripture.

Now return to Matthew 24:12.

Love grows cold when we distance ourselves from the Teachings of GOD. When we distance ourselves from abiding in obedience to the WORD of GOD, all manner of unloving behavior begins to go on in our day-to-day walking about.  Not only do I see counsel here for me to heed. I see that the World at large and in particular America has distanced Herself from Torah – it shows in Her behavior.

I can’t change America but I can allow the Torah (the Whole Counsel of ABBA) to transform me. And so can you; and enough of us behaving in real, godly love will put America back on solid footing!

Now that’s something to ponder on Day 3 of 2014.

Guidelines for the New Year

It has been a pleasant, soul-feeding day; not to mention the body feeding as well.  Oven fried pork chops, black-eyed peas, cabbage, turnip greens, cornbread and for some sweet tea; for yours truly unsweetened and I have actually grown to prefer it — most of the time.  And with a quick ‘have a little talk with JESUS’ prayer I resisted the urge for Dunkin Donuts this evening.

Speaking of ‘have a little talk with JESUS’ praying, I am determined to do more of that this year as evidenced by this evening – It works!

My Little Girl has a great guideline for the New Year. She posted it to Facebook; I’m borrowing it.

2014 is going to be a great year! Live a life of joy every day!! — feeling hopeful.

And she is smart enough to know that every day is not going to lend its self to happiness; but she is also wise enough to know we can CHOOSE to retain the JOY of the LORD.

John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

We have covenanted to remind one another.  :)

By the way, did you know the word JOY is referenced in KJV 187 times? Click HERE and take a look.

Some pots and pans are calling. Happy Day 2 of 2014!!

Early Rising

Well, y’all getting somewhere on time is easy!  :) When your hubby sets the alarm and inadvertently also resets the clock! But you know what is a pleasant surprise? I’m up WAY earlier than my norm, I feel just as good, perhaps even better! hum???

One more day folks to accomplish all the 2013 stuff! 2014 is moving up fast!!

I have one more book to finish reading to reach my goal of 12 books read in 2013 (In addition to Scripture and Sunday School prep and blogging and etc.) Not bad I think, but my goal for 2014 is 24. Perhaps ambitious but hey I might make it!

John 16:

33 “I have said these things to you so that, united with me, you may have shalom. In the world, you have tsuris. But be brave! I have conquered the world!”

via John 16:33 KJV;CJB – These things I have spoken unto you, – Bible Gateway.

Be Brave!

That’s a good Word for us to end 2013 and begin 2014.

Be Brave!

Be Brave because HE has conquered sin and death for us!

ABBA, thank You. Thank You ADONAI YESHUA that we can be brave because You live! Thank You, HOLY SPIRIT for infusing us with strength, courage, hope, faith, and love.

Blessings my Friends,

Kathie
