Ray Stedman

I am directing you to the words of  Ray Stedman today.  To pique your interest this is just a portion of what he said:

“What will you be like if you are godlike? Will you be strong? Yes, of course. There is no strength like God’s strength. Will you be filled with power if you are godlike? Oh yes, but be careful. It is a different kind of power than the world desires. It is quieter, less apparent, but far mightier. Will you be happy if you are godlike? Oh yes, but a different kind of happiness than the world is seeking after. Will you be wise and kind? Of course, wiser and kinder than you have ever been before, because that is what God is.”

and read the whole of it. The title is Be Godlike. It is worth the read.

ABBA, many things on my mind this morning, things to do and time slipping away; and more than that people with huge to them problems, troubles so big they don’t know what to do, hope is waning; HOLY SPIRIT, please help them hear You and believe You; help them trust You, help them live GODLIKE. I know, You know it is the only way to survive in this hostile world. Thank You for our IDOKs, each and every one of them, wherever they are in geography and wherever they are in fellowship with You, I pray for them to receive strength from You today; to receive hope, and, ABBA, those with sickness, disease and illnesses of every kind, please heal them. And we are mindful of others, we are remembering their names and faces in this moment, thank You for Your kind attention to them and their needs; and I am mindful, ABBA, that were it not for JESUS this prayer would be meaningless and unfruitful but because of Him You hear and You act. Amen and amen.

Governed

In my praying this morning I was reminded how important it is that the Word of our God govern us. I petitioned Him today that His Word would govern how we think; the decisions that we are compelled to make today, the places we will go, the words we will say and the emotions we will feel. That today we will be governed by His Word.

Acts 20: 32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Praying (PFT)!

ABBA, I am grateful for this page to come together with others of like faith and so I pray for each of us; HOLY SPIRIT, asking that You govern us with Your Very Own Word today. We see it is so very important and so much to our very own benefit and those we love that we be governed by Your Word. Many emotions may come today, some will hit us like a brick, others will creep up like an evil adversary, help us sort them for keeping or casting; to enjoy them and rejoice with much praise or cast them from us, rejoicing and giving praise and thanks to You that we have the power and grace to do so. We have looked again at the names entrusted to this ministry, some have been with us a long time, some have been depending for a long time on this ministry to faithfully stand with them; thank You for that, ABBA, and we desire to be faithful and fail not in this; we know You will not. And so I commend each one who comes to meet with You here today, that You will quicken to each heart the importance of Your Word to govern us; and I dare not fail to ask for healings and provisions, conviction and repentance in the very portions that will glorify the Name of JESUS. Thank You, ABBA.

Surprise!

Perhaps I could say the extent of my surprise is indicative of my degree of having given up.

This is the 3rd Spring for my little lily. She has been faithful to push through the winter soil for three seasons and with each appearing she gave only leaves.

But this morning? Surprise! Delight and amazement and with much praise and gratitude I found this:

Certainly, the expected glory will surpass the present beauty but how foolish it would be of me to not celebrate what is while I wait for what is to come.

Can we get a life lesson from that? (You are invited to share your insights if you will.)
