What Else?

From the Quietness of the War Room, I asked what does my Tribe need today? Protection I think.
Protection from the elements.
Protection from the enemy.
Protection from their own flesh (their wants that do not speak Your glory).
What else?
Hearts and minds to love You most – before their jobs, their children, their spouses, their homes, their vehicles, their toys, their electronics (and what those devices bring to their senses), their bellies (appetites), their reputations, their every belonging (owned or financed).
What else?
A love that makes them hungry and thirsty for Your Word and Your Company.

Exodus 20: TLV “Have no gods other than Me. source

So what makes a god?
What makes an idol?
An image used as an object of worship. A false god. One that is adored, often blindly or excessively.

So anything I love more or adore more than GOD becomes my idol.

Certainly, I must pray no idols for me, no idols for my Tribe. Help us Adonai to tear down and forsake all our idols, however close or far they may be.

After catching a brief round of media I’m not so sure the word Tribe is a great word choice.
Please know my usage has NO leanings toward the liberal leftist ideology.

Minority

Ezra of the Old Testament.

Chapter 7.

This Ezra was a scribe who was well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given to the people of Israel. He came up to Jerusalem from Babylon, and the king gave him everything he asked for, because the gracious hand of the Lord his God was on him. source

9 . . . for the gracious hand of his God was on him. source

Have you ever felt like the gracious hand of God is just not resting on you right now? Like not only is His gracious hand not on me but it feels like He is purposely withholding the good things I need?

If you have not I think you just might be in the minority.

Ezra. Do you wonder why GOD was so gracious to Ezra?  Verse 10 answers that question.

10 This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the Lord and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel. source

So. If that times comes again that I feel GOD is against me instead of for me, I shall remind myself of verse 10 and I shall get back on track just as verse 10 prescribes. For such feelings will clearly indicate that I have been allowing myself to meditate on ME and my situations instead of Him, His Word and the good of others.

Abba, thank You that You are always good, You are always gracious and You always love us even when we doubt You. I pray we will diligently study, obey and serve Your Word and when we fail; thank You that You will remind us and work with us to get us back on track. Thank You, Adonai.

Pretty Quickly

The question he asked today: How can you begin to love yourself better today?

I got an answer pretty quickly.

Faithfully do the things needed to honestly care, tend and minister to your mind, body, and spirit.

Simple, huh? Yes and no. It’s a process, a matter of getting back on the wagon each time we fall off, eventually, we won’t fall off as often.  :)

Matthew 22: NLT 37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” source

Another point made was if we do not care for ourselves, it’s a pretty good bet we are not caring for others either and perhaps even our love for GOD is affected adversely as well.  Actually, this is what he said:

“I’m no Bible scholar, but I can’t help but notice those last two words: “as yourself.” In one statement Jesus links the ideas of loving God, loving your neighbor, and loving yourself. In my experience, this rings true. All three of those loves tend to rise and fall together. The more you love one, the more you love the others. People who never learn to love their true selves are often also limited in their love for God and others.”     By Mike Foster, A Five Day Devo (Packed with Grace) People of the Second Chance, Day 3 located at  Bible.com.
